Back on January 17, 2024 there was an article by Megan Ulu-Lani Boyanton at Smithsonian Magazine titled A Brief History of the United States’ Accents and Dialects. She discussed several of them, as shown above via a map. But you can’t really learn without listening to them.

 

Her article also had a 22-minute embedded video by dialect coach Erik Singer titled Accent Expert Gives a Tour of U. S. Accents – Part 1. He also has two other videos: one is Accent Expert Gives a Tour of U. S. Accents – Part 2 (14 minutes), and the other is Accent Expert Gives a Tour of North American Accents – Part 3 (11 minutes).
