This month is the spring Boise Area Parade of Homes. Their brochure was inserted in Boise Weekly. Some homes have reasonable areas, 2000 to 3000 square feet. But #19, The Phoenix, has 8561 square feet – almost 0.2 acres! Keeping all those the floors clean really calls for a riding vacuum. I joked about one a couple decades ago, when I looked for the biggest home listed in the Portland, Oregon metro area, and found a 15,000 square foot estate in the wine country near Newberg. Here’s a more recent one in Oregon with 13,462 square feet (0.31 acres).
There was a cartoon about a riding vacuum by Alan Dunn back in 1944. In 1988 Roseanne Barr quipped that she'll clean house when Sears comes out with a riding vacuum cleaner. There are two brief humorous YouTube videos about riding vacuums: one from CBH Homes that mentions a mulching attachment, and another from Saturday Night Live. There also is a serious one for the Eureka Tigra.
If your home is that big, then your yard might be so big that you need a GPS to find the back door from the garden.
